Converting grams to tablespoons

Tablespoons are handy for small quantities like butter, sugar, cocoa or yeast. Because a tablespoon is a volume, the weight it holds changes with each ingredient: a tablespoon of sugar is about 12.5 g, a tablespoon of flour about 7.8 g, and a tablespoon of butter about 14.2 g.

We use the US tablespoon of 14.8 ml, which equals 3 teaspoons or 1/16 of a cup. Fill the spoon level, not heaped, for results that match the converter.

tablespoons = grams ÷ (grams per cup ÷ 16)
Example: 25 g sugar ÷ 12.5 g = 2 tbsp
